  • Beyond our wide array of in-house surgical procedures, The OB/GYN Group of Austin offers many in-house services to make testing and getting information ever so easy. We understand that no one wants to go to another location for testing if they don't have to, so we've brought it here.

    Our new in-office services include:

Digital Mammography: One of the most recent advances in x-ray mammography, digital mammography, is now offered right here in our offices. These 3D, spot-view digital systems allow for faster and more accurate views - so exam times are shorter and the process is significantly improved in terms of comfort. It also means fewer women will likely be recalled for additional diagnostic follow-ups. Specifically, digital mammography uses a digital receptor and a computer, so 3-D images are acquired digitally and displayed immediately on the system monitor and stored on a computer. The magnification, orientation, brightness, and contrast of the image may be altered to help the radiologist see certain areas more clearly. Austin Radiological Association (ARA) reads our digital mammography images and provides access to old films performed previously at other ARA locations.

Ultrasound: Obstetric and general ultrasound tests are conveniently performed here in our offices. Obstetric ultrasound is the use of ultrasound scans in pregnancy and has become a very useful diagnostic tool. Ultrasound tests are used for diagnostic purposes for many different gynecologic problems. Ultrasound imaging involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show the structure and movement of the body's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.

3D/4D Baby Bond Experience: We offer an exciting and exclusive benefit for bonding with your baby. Our ultra high-resolution ultrasound displays your baby in three dimensions. This is not a test but a wonderful way to show our patients awaiting to be new parents just what their baby looks like. Picture quality depends on position of the baby. It's definitely optional as it is not covered by insurance, but many parents find it priceless.

Early ScreenŽ: This first trimester prenatal procedure is a screening test, not a diagnostic test that estimates your risk for 3 chromosome conditions. It's a blood test combined with an 11 - 13 week ultrasound exam that estimates your chance of having a baby with Down syndrome, Trisomy-18 or Trisomy-13. Women identified as having a high risk for chromosomal abnormality can pursue further studies to rule out a problem.

Bone Density Testing: Years ago, osteoporosis would only be detected after you broke a bone. By then, your bones might already be quite weak. Today a bone density test, also called densitometry or DEXA scan, can determine if you have osteoporosis or are at risk of osteoporosis before you break any bones. And now we offer this quick and easy test in house.

A bone density test uses special X-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. The higher your mineral content, the denser your bones are. And the denser your bones, the stronger they generally are and the less likely they are to break. This is an invaluable tool for keeping your bones healthy and preventing unnecessary bone weakening.

Laboratory Work: All of your necessary lab work is handled in office, which prevents you from having to go to an outside laboratory for routine lab tests. Our patients find this a huge convenience, and we hope you will too.

Bladder Testing: Many patients suffering with urinary incontinence or pelvic prolapse need evaluation of their bladder to help find the best way to treat their condition. This involves the measurement of volumes and pressures within the bladder, as well as measures of elicit leakage.

Child Birth Classes: Our in-office child birth classes are designed to prepare you for one of life's most exciting and fulfilling experiences. And they are all held right here in our offices so you don't have to travel anywhere else. For course details and information on our instructor, click here.
