Birthing Classes
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Our childbirth classes are designed to educate and empower our expectant parents with knowledge and alleviate any anxiety through confidence-building exercises. The more knowledge you have, the less mystery there will be. Our series of classes is designed especially for the patients of Drs. Nunnelly, Reue, Sweeney, Grogono, Abikhaled, Kish, Gooch and Braunstein.
About the Instructor
Lynne Berdofe, WHCNP-BC is a Certified Childbirth Educator with over 17 years of experience in obstetrical nursing. She has been with The OB/GYN Group of Austin since 1995. Her obstetrical background also includes experience as Charge Nurse of Labor and Delivery Room Suites at Seton Medical Center, as well as Special Care Nursery experience at Scott & White Hospital. Lynne has been teaching these classes since 1996 and she enjoys every minute of them. She is certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Class Description
The classes are divided into a series of three.
1st class:
Anatomy/physiology of pregnancy;
When to call the doctor;
Phases and stages of labor;
What to expect the last month of pregnancy;
Breathing exercises.
2nd class:
Childbirth choices;
Relaxation and breathing techniques;
Pain medication options including epidurals;
C-sections.
3rd class:
Highlights of breastfeeding;
Baby care;
Postpartum care;
A tour of Seton's labor and delivery unit.
When to take Birthing Classes:
It’s recommended to have the 3-week series completed approximately one month before your due date. Call ahead to schedule, as classes fill quickly.
Times: Typically a new series begins the first Tuesday of each month, for three consecutive Tuesdays, from 6:30-9:30 pm. Plan to eat dinner before class.

We offer several options.

2.) Complete the registration form (link below) and bring it with you on your next appointment;
3.) Download the information (link below) and fax in your form.
4.) Pre-register by calling the office and asking for the Childbirth Class voice mail.

Location: Classes are held in our office waiting room. Our offices are in the Medical Park Tower Building, adjacent to Seton Medical Center.
Cost: $80.00 for the series of 3 classes
Payment can be mailed to us or you can bring in a check at your next appointment.
